Japanese designer takeshi iue may now live in australia, but he retains the philosophy of japanese design
as these pieces show. iue got in touch with designboom to share some insight into the process behind his tripod lamp made using LED lights. despite the lamp’s simple form, the construction was a little trickier.
iue worked out the angles from the lamp on paper, transferring these into a series of prototypes. each test
allowed iue to experiment with different angles, until he arrived at the final shape and size. the final lamp
was made in rock maple and walnut using a thin LED lighting panel and a small switch on the front leg of
the base. he also shared some of his other projects with us, along with some images from inside his studio
